Globestar Kubernetes
kubeadm: standard upstream Kubernetes
kubeadm builds Kubernetes as intended upstream, using the classic structure. For scenarios requiring full upstream compatibility or specific tooling.
What is it?
kubeadm is the official method for setting up upstream Kubernetes. All components run in their classic form, exactly as described in the Kubernetes documentation.
For whom?
For teams whose tooling or workflows are based on the classic upstream architecture. It is somewhat heavier than k3s; if you do not have this requirement, I recommend k3s.
What you get from me
- Fully managed: I deploy your cluster and keep it running, with no hassle.
- Automated installation: you select your servers, and I install Kubernetes on the first node; servers you add later join automatically.
- The Globestar Kubernetes Stack: ingress with Traefik and automatic TLS certificates via cert-manager, ready to use out of the box.
- Includes metrics-server, so you can immediately see resource usage in your cluster.
- High availability: once you have 3 servers, I automatically make your cluster HA with 3 masters.
The advantages
The classic upstream setup, so everything works as described in the Kubernetes documentation. Ideal if your tooling or workflows are already aligned with it.
How I set it up for you
You select your servers and click 'New cluster'. I build your cluster using kubeadm, deploy the complete stack, and ensure that servers you add later join automatically. You don’t need to perform any technical tasks.
The Globestar Kubernetes Stack
No matter which flavor you choose, your cluster comes ready-to-use with the same complete stack:
- High availability with 3 masters: in k3s, your cluster is automatically made HA once you have 3 servers, ensuring it is not dependent on a single server.
- Traefik: ingress to make your applications directly accessible on your own domain.
- cert-manager: automatic TLS certificates, ensuring HTTPS without manual intervention.
- Longhorn: reliable storage for your data, distributed across your servers.
- CloudNativePG: PostgreSQL databases that run smoothly within your cluster.
- The KO controller with modules: you choose what you want to run, I handle the rest. View the controller and all modules →
- Automatic dependencies: what a module needs is automatically included.
- SaaS applications such as n8n and Langflow, deployed on your own cluster with just a few clicks.
- Monitoring: In My Kubernetes, you can see how your cluster is performing.
My advice
For a production-ready cluster, I recommend at least 6 nodes, each with a minimum of 75 GB of disk space, distributed across a region.
k3s and kubeadm side by side
| Subject | k3s | kubeadm |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Lightweight, low resource usage | Slightly heavier |
| Structure | Compact, certified distribution | Classic upstream layout |
| Suitable for | Small to medium-sized clusters and edge | Full upstream compatibility and specific tooling |
| Automatic HA with 3 masters | Yes, from 3 servers | Yes, from 3 servers |
| Globestar Kubernetes Stack | Yes | Yes |
| Metrics | Built-in | metrics-server provided |
| My advice | Recommended | If you really need it |
